Compassion, Grace, kindness, & Generosity

We are deeply guided by the enduring principles of Native American Lena Doctor Tiger. Her compassion, grace, kindness, and generosity were powerful virtues that uplifted both individuals and entire communities. Through her quiet strength, she gave selflessly—always helping others without expecting anything in return.

Lena fostered empathy, healing, and human decency in a world that so deeply needs it. Her legacy lives on in us. We are truly committed to carrying forward her spirit, united in purpose, and devoted to being a beacon of hope in times of need.

ABOUT US

Formerly known as Victims Helping Victims, Disaster Sources Lena D. Tiger Foundation carries forward a strong legacy of compassion, advocacy, and community service. Our founder was honored with the prestigious Jeb Bush Award for Community Service, the Florida Department of Health Award for Health and Outreach, and recognition from the NAACP for outstanding service during Hurricane Wilma. In the aftermath of the storm, we partnered with Modern Age Furniture to help furnish homes for families who had lost everything., Partnered with Walmart to provide essential needs and emergency funding to families affected by hurricanes.. Victims Helping Victims also worked alongside Jeb Bush liaison Rex Newman and FPL to have lights installed in the park where FEMA placed temporary trailers for families displaced by Hurricane Wilma, helping children safely walk to their bus stops each day.

Today, Disaster Sources Lena D. Tiger Foundation continues to serve with the same commitment and dedication. As a nonprofit organization, we support individuals and families through life’s most difficult times by providing free hurricane and winter supplies to vulnerable communities, food boxes for families facing food insecurity, and hot meals for individuals experiencing homelessness. Through compassion, strong community partnerships, and the generosity of our donors, we stand ready to help before, during, and after disasters strike.

Our mission is to deliver hope, relief, and resilience in times of crisis.
