On March 16, 2026, United Way of Broward hosted an Emergency Food Distribution event to support individuals and families affected by the ongoing government shutdown. Led by Rebecca McGuire, Ph.D., VP of United for Housing, the initiative provided critical relief to households facing weeks without pay. With the help of volunteers and community partners, food was distributed directly to those in need while supplies lasted. The event also served as an opportunity for disaster response teams like Disaster Sources Inc, and other organizations to volunteer and support community recovery efforts.
